Re: wiper refills?

I did a little research and found that the part number for Anco refills to fit the stock Trico stainless holder is U-15-R. I called around and an AutoZone not too far from me had three sets at $6.99 ea. Got them on the 71 GMC in about 5 mins and work great. You have to ask for that PN. Otherwise they are like a deer in the headlights. Counter jockey at the zone d that they are sending a lot ofthese back to their warehouse due to inactivity.

Re: wiper refills?

Went to my local NAPA, Autozone & O'Reilly's, none carry the ANCO refills, only the plastic blade type replacement units. In Autozone's system U15R is the part number for the newer plastic blades, not the ANCO refills.

Not sure I follow...Anco U-15-R is a wiper blade refill that fits into the stock oem Trico stainless steel blade holder...

Yes, the three auto parts stores I went to no longer carry ANCO U15R "refill", they told me the demand was low so they are no longer available.

If you go to Autozone, at least the ones in SoCal and order anco U-15-R or U15R, you get the newer style plastic blade and wiper as a unit.

Re: wiper refills?

last year i went to replace the blades for the very first time and boi was i shocked. no one carried just the blades. went online an didn't see anything either( short fast search). very sad when you think about it. wonder which cost more the blade or the thing that holds the blade that you must buy every time now? and now its time for new ones again.

Re: wiper refills?

I know this is about getting refills for OEM 15" blades, but if anyone is looking for OEM-style 15" blades, NAPA p/n WIP 601537 is supposed to be the ticket. Haven't got 'em myself yet but I intend to check 'em out. Unfortunately my original blades got tossed many years back... I don't even remember why.

It appears that there is a lot of confusion as to terminology. When I say "refill" I am referring to the rubber inserts only that fit in the oem Trico stainless steel silver holder. Universal parts that replace the oem stainless Trico holder are not that hard to find. These are usually lack plastic, sometimes black steel. Rubber inserts to fit in the oem Trico arm are little harder. Last week I bought six sets of the rubber inserts to fit Trico arms, U-15-R, but now I see nothing comes up on the AutoZone site.

Re: wiper refills?

After reading this thread about a week ago, I went to autozone to get a pair. Can you believe these are so hard to find? Used to be every store had these. Now they want to sell the whole dang thing for $17 dollars or some crazy price! 6.99 for refills is crazy too but that's the world we live in.

So I just asked at the counter for U-15R and they showed 2 in stock. (they of course weren't there so they ordered me a pair)

Turned out they got lost somewhere and told me they had 16's. I said sure, give me those. I just snipped off a piece on both.

P.S. they keep the refills in the back so don't bother looking for them. Also note these have a plastic back, not metal like originals. (works just as good)

Re: wiper refills?

what about these items? Trico 33-150 from advance http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...m=wiper+refill or the Trico 44-150 refill from oreilly http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...keyword=44-150

also, both of these are available on amazon.

Re: wiper refills?

I ordered two sets online from AutoZone earlier this year for my 71:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...ntifier=368027

They are, indeed, just the refill for the stock arms, not plastic replacements.

Just to clarify for everyone. I went to autozone and bought them today with that part number. They fit the stock arms, but they are rubber and plastic. They aren't rubber with the metal channel all the way down like the originals. This kind of annoys me to not have the metal all the way down, but I've searched high and low and it looks like they've gone to this type. The good news, is that at least these work with the stock application and are easy to find with that part number. I went ahead and bought two sets so I can keep one set under the seat

Napa doesn't carry them based off the year make and model of our trucks. I guess that's the same for Autozone. Where I've got a part number, auto zone tends to be less expensive, and I had a 20% off coupon, I went with them.

So, do yours have the metal channel all the way down? If so, it sounds like they changed it to be plastic instead, and they use the same part number
