Re: Hello Guys and Gals!

I have considered going that route but haven't looked into it closely yet. I don't know that I'll do anything beyond the exhaust, 2 barrel set-up and other stuff I mentioned before. I know I'm not until my truck is finished anyhow. That is unless a part dies and necessitates a repair/upgrade. I don't like to simply repair anything. If something breaks once, even if it's because it had 200,000 miles on it I will upgrade it so it doesn't happen again... My truck is my top priority and my true love. I am and most likely always will a Chevy man through and through. I bought the little Dodge because I was looking for an economical, comfy cruiser that still had style and seeing as I love green when I saw this car with the shiny new paint I instantly liked it. It's my first Mopar and I do like driving it but I don't think it's going to make me convert to a Mopar man anytime soon... Thanks for the suggestions though and especially the link. I have looked at their Chevy overdrive trannys before but never their Mopar trannys. I have a 700-R4, B&M Trans-Pak, converter lock-up controller and everything else needed to go OD on my '63. I would have already installed it but I've decided to just wait until I start my frame off and do it then. It has a fresh Turbo 350 in it now, when I got the truck the trans had went out and the previous owner had bought a remanufactured trans, pulled out the old one and just set the engine and tranny back in the truck. I just had to bolt everything back down and hook it all up, which took all of one Saturday afternoon. I got it tagged that Monday and drove it to work Tuesday! I haven't had the first problem aside from leaky wheel cylinders since. Which I removed and installed front discs. I plan to install rear discs as well when I start the restification. Thanks again

Thanks. All these compliments mean a lot from you guys. You all have some sweet rides. Some of you are the very guys who are my inspiration to build my truck. I've done a lot to mine but sometimes it feels like I haven't even started yet. I have tried to keep it a driver the whole time thus far but as soon as my garage is built it is coming off the road then off the frame so I can finally start the upgrades and proper restoration I've been wanting to do since day one.

Here are a few more shots of the truck including some front angle views per kizer's request. Last shot includes my best bud Kirby and my daily driver '72 Dodge Dart.
Ok, its offical. My truck is going mint green. I've been wanting to see what it would look like since it was originally mint green, but the previous owner sprayed it baby blue to hide all its flaws.

I hope you don't mind I might even borrow the two tone white idea from you. Don't worry mine is a long bed so we wouldn't really be twins. As well its a long time before I hit paint so you don't have to worry about me stalking you. hahahaha I'm in the process of tearing it down to frame and painting everything so the body is way off.

I don't mind at all. I'm painting this one a metallic lime green pearl anyhow. This mint green is what came on it when I bought it. When I got the new bed I sent a panel I had cut off when I shortened the step side to a place I found online and they matched the color and put it in spray cans for me. I used it to cover what was a show quality 2 stage paint job which kinda hurt but it was maroon and even though it was nice I had no intention of painting the cab maroon so it had to go. If I were you I would paint the strip in between the moldings on the doors & bed sides white as well when you repaint yours...

Re: Hello Guys and Gals!

So your saying carry the white from the cab to the top of the bed along that body line?

Re: Hello Guys and Gals!

No, just the narrow strip between the narrow and wide moldings that starts on the doors and goes down the sides of the bed.

Re: Hello Guys and Gals!

Just checked out your ride. Your's doesn't have the molding on the sides like mine has. (for now) I'm gonna ditch mine as well when I officially start the bodywork. At least that's the plan for now. It is subject to change.

Molding your talking about that strip of chrome that runs down the bed side right? I'd like to install it, but haven't decided if I want to drill all those holes to install it.

Yep, that would be the part I'm talking about. There are 22 holes in each bed side on a short bed. You are definitely talking about drilling a bunch of holes. I would probably have someone airbrush a graphic on the sides that resembles the stock molding before I drilled 70 or so holes on each side of the truck and then spend around $500 on all the aluminum strips. I want mine gone which is an even bigger job. You just have to drill. I have to weld a zillion plugs into the sides of my truck. I'm looking forward to that job! Thanks again for all the compliments!

Or . . ... For $25, you can become a subscribing member on the board & post a 'Want To Trade' (WTT) ad & just swap your really nice bed w/holes & trim for another really nice bed w/o holes & trim. Seems if your going to repaint anyway, it might help someone else out & save you some work @ the same time .

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

That may not be a bad idea. Probably not the route I'll go but if the right opportunity presented itself I wouldn't rule out swapping beds , AGAIN. The bed I have is just SOOO solid I think the odds of finding someone who has an equally nice bed without trim holes that wanted to trade and is close enough to me to make it a feasible option would be incredibly slim, especially since all they would be saving themselves is a little time with a drill and bit.... Plus, I'd still have all the holes in the cab, doors & front fenders to contend with. Still in theory it was a great idea. If there is anyone out there with a super solid bed without trim holes and wants a bed with the holes and you live within a hundred miles or so of central North Carolina drop me a line. Maybe we could make a deal?

You have a sweet ride, for sure. Looks like your a lot further along in the process than I am. Although I'm going in a totally different direction with mine than you went with yours. Love yours though. How wide are your rear wheels? Look like around 10 inches maybe???
