Fuel gauge acting up
It'll show full for a while, then it will suddenly drop to 3/4 tank. I'm not sure if it's the sending unit or the gauge. When I take off the sending unit wire the gauge goes to full, when I ground the wire it goes to empty.
Help please?

Re: Fuel gauge acting up
OK....I think I figured it out.
The float seems to be getting hung up on something at the top of the tank. I hooked an ohm meter up to where the wire plugs in, and I got around 42 ohms. Makes sense, because the gauge was reading just under 1/2. So, now I gotta figure out what it's getting caught on...

Re: Fuel gauge acting up
Mine did the same thing, turns out the float was leaking. I picked a new one at NAPA for a few bucks and it's fine now.

Any chance you happen to remember the part number on the NAPA float? I need to replace mine and have found a couple on ebay but can't seem to find anything at the local parts stores. I've looked online but don't know what to search for to find it on the NAPA website. Thanks!

I don't know the number, I just went in to NAPA and they had it in stock and on their computer. Good luck! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Fuel gauge acting up
I think LMC and Classic Parts has them as well.
