call bill at vintage chevy. They make a perfect fit dash pad/ factory color/ vinyl wrapped/made in the usa. What more could you ask for?

Re: replacement dash

How about the covers you can get from LCM and other places? http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=112

I'm sure they're not as good as OE, but are they passable? I recall seeing a red one a few years ago thinking "wow, that's a nice dash in that old truck" and upon closer inspection it was a cover.

Re: replacement dash

This guy sells either the factory OEM or I think a decent reproduction from Dashes Direct.

http://store.73-87chevytrucks.com/me...tegory_Code=DC

http://www.dashesdirect.com/products...=12&ModelID=39
Part #: D100181-013

I bought the factory OEM one and then had to paint it. If you go this route (either OEM or reproduction), you still need to paint it.

I've not heard good things about "pads" or "covers". The just don't look right by a long shot.....

Re: replacement dash

well im getting a black dash anyway, so painting would not be an issue. ive looked into the dash pads (not covers) but the 300 dollar actual bolt in new pads on LMC truck, classic parts, classic industries and brothers trucks.

All are same price, just completely unsure on which one to go with - unless they ALL come fro the same company and are distributed between the stores.

Re: replacement dash

I cannot speak for those companys but the ones from dashes direct are made in the usa of premium goods and i doubt anything from brothers, lmc or the like is made in the states. Read any thread, i have no complaints and i havent seen anyone else with issues.

Re: replacement dash

You guys are trying to telling me that he re-wraps the dashes and stitches them like that for $200 bucks?!?!?

I saw that dash with the red stitches posts months ago and thought it was a one off custom and out of my price range... Even if it costs me 200 to ship the damn thing!

Re: replacement dash

I just bought one of these Dashes Direct dash pads from Summit Racing. They are a LOT cheaper from Summit. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/OER-14031898/ $189.95 plus a $19 oversize charge. I ordered mine last Thursday afternoon, and it came Saturday night around 7:30 via Fed Ex! Can't beat the service either!

Figured this would probably be my best option out of all of them that I have seen so far. A guy at this year's swap meet was asking $250 for his, and I don't even know what brand it was. Dashes Direct are made in U.S.A. I noticed where it was made right on the box! Only available in black, but if it fits right it will still look better than my crapped out original!

I want to put it in, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the Alpine radio out of the way so that I can pull the dash bezel out. It was in the truck when I got it, so I don't know how to get it out! Soon as I get that issue taken care of I'll fit mine up and post some pictures. Anybody that knows how to get the Alpine radio/cd player out please help! Can't wait to test fit this thing! ...Joe

I'm using that dash, had to trim a bit from the sides but after an hour or so of trial and error it fits nice:

Re: replacement dash

That looks to me to be a whole lot better than a 25+ year old dash that has cracks and holes in it all over the place! Can't wait to get mine put on. ..Joe
