Straight axle and spindle orientation

sorry for the stupid question but is there a particular orientation for how the spindles mount on the axle on my 57?

When I removed them (the spindles) I marked them L/R (my OCD) but when I look at the spindle itself, there doesn't seem to be a specific way they mount...

Re: Straight axle and spindle orientation

On the spindle there is a slot in the threaded end, that slot faces up.

This spindle is facing upward. Although is looks like it pointing downward the axle is tilted to compensate and it will look level once installed. The bearing and shims goes under the axle and above the lower spindle pin hole. The spindle will fit left or right.

Yeah the spindle should be point towards the ground when installed. I am in the same boat as you LDO. My poor truck has been on jack stands for 2 weeks and the weather is finally tolerable!
