ebay deception

Here is NOS tach for sale on ebay and it looks good from the front! It is missing the circiut board, cardboard dust cover, and back tin and is being sold as a NOS item. Does anyone else think he is trying to deceive buyers. I emailed him last week and told him that the circiut board was missing and it would not work without it, never emailed back! I feel sorry for the 2 guys bidding over this if they are expecting this to work. http://www.ebay.com/itm/140855995707...84.m1423.l2649

Re: ebay deception

Not sure if he's really being dishonest, he does show you several pics. That's probably the way it came out of the box. If you were replacing a defective one the missing parts could be used off of that one. However... paying over $200.00??? now that sound a little crazy to me, you could buy a complete used tach dash for that. I'd guess they have no clue what it even is, but when they don't answer your emails it does make you wonder.

Re: ebay deception

I agree, he isn't really being deceptive. As stated before me, he does show several pics of the tach of the condition it is in. The guy may have never seen the back of a gauge cluster, and may not know it is missing parts. Though, I don't think I would believe it. I am sure he did some research. NOS parts are worth some money to the right people. I would not paying that price though, even if I had the parts to put it together for use. It is what it is, and it's worth as much as someone willing pay for it. If someone is paying that price, I am sure they know what they are looking at and for.

Re: ebay deception

Sadly many people will buy first then research something's value if they "think" its a deal. Then ***** about a bad deal. N.O.S. is probably the most overused and grossly incorrect restoration term in general use.
With many thousands of eBay transactions as a buyer I will stop at about 70% retail unless I know to the cent its true market value and condition. But then even I have, after looking for a year or more for an item, on occasion paid clearly above market to "have it".
