66 gmc v6 to inline 6

so i think i may have blew up the v6 today. i was driving down the freeway (at about 50) and heard something pop and then engine seemed like it was misfiring. i pushed down on the clutch and and it shut off. i let go of the clutch, still cruising at around 40mph and it turned back on but sounded like it had a bent a rod or a valve or something. just wasnt the same. i guess its time to put it to rest. i figure it would be cheaper to get a straight 6 than to get the v6 rebuilt. i may also save at the pump with the straight 6. i was wondering if anyone has done the change and if the bell housing bolts are the same on something like a 250 as they are in the 305 v6. im assuming i would need engine mounts as well. so if some one could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it. thanks in advance
