Push in or Adhesive type trim / molding clip set ???
Getting ready to purchase all new upper and lower trim for 72 GMC which is currently in the process of getting painted. My question is Classic Parts sells 2 different types of clip sets, push in or adhesive style. Which do you prefer and why?

Re: Push in or Adhesive type trim / molding clip set ???
i like push in - I think the adhesive leaves the trim standing a little bit proud of the surface - i.e. not all the way against the body. Might just have been the few i've seen, not sure if others have had better experience with the stick on. Plus, if ya gotta take it off for any reason it'll probably jack up the paint.

Re: Push in or Adhesive type trim / molding clip set ???
The previuos owner used the adhesive type on my truck and it does'nt stick completely to the truck. It has gaps here and there. Push in is the way to go. Be sure that holes get drilled first then painted. So there won't be any rust issues after a few years.

I have push in and the sticky clips on my truck and the adhesive clips work great!! It's all about how it's put on.. Factory used both styles also.

Re: Push in or Adhesive type trim / molding clip set ???
Ya I still have original holes in the original metal. I made sure I didn't mud over any holes. I pretty much had my mind set on push in style , now I know I will do push in style. Thanks for the input.

Re: Push in or Adhesive type trim / molding clip set ???
I'm definitely in agreement with the push in. If you need and 'go' adhesive in a few places make sure you get a very low profile adhesive...ideally from a body shop supply place or equivalent. Get good quality stuff and not hardware stuff.
I feel fortunate I came across about 1-2 full sets of original GM body push-in moldings years ago, uppers and lowers, miscellaneous backs, etc, etc...I don't even remember where I got them. Regardless, its nice to have a few boxes and bags of them laying around just in case. Good luck Coley

Re: Push in or Adhesive type trim / molding clip set ???
Every truck that I have parted that had the stick on tabs also had the trim held on with wood screws. That should tell you something.

Re: Push in or Adhesive type trim / molding clip set ???
The adhesive clips I got for my lower trim had double stick tape much thicker than OEM and the result is the trim stands out from the body with a noticeable gap between sheetmetal and trim. I would avoid the adhesive trim for the lowers if possible and am not using this style on my current build.

Re: Push in or Adhesive type trim / molding clip set ???
Bought a complete set of moldings from Mar-K in Oklahoma city. They came with the factory clips, some adhesive and some push in/studs just like they came on thee truck. They fit and look fantastic. I think they cost just over a grand for top and bottom w/woodgrain.
