New Guy... Old Truck...
New here. Finally talked my dad out of this truck. He's had it for 10 years, parked for that whole time. Hasn't been on the road since 86, according to the registration on the plate.
1964 C-10 SWB 230ci, 3 spd. I hope to make it a daily driver by Thanksgiving...Fingers crossed. Thanks for all the tips and tricks posted. |

Re: New Guy... Old Truck...
I feel ya, took my uncle around 10 years to get my truck from him. My profile pic shows how it looked when I first got it.

Welcome from NC. Great looking truck and history. What plans do you have in store for it?

Re: New Guy... Old Truck...
I have already started the motor build. I wanted to keep the 230 and hot rod it with a full Offenhauser set-up but it just isn't practical at this point. I am putting a 350 in it. Something mild, 325hp ish. Still on the fence with the transmission, 700R4 for the overdrive or just go with the tried and true TH350 and just compensate with the rear-end gear. I do about 15 miles each way on the highway. (Any advice on this is much appreciated)
Already ordered new wheels so that I can roll it around once I pick out tires. Putting A/C in it for sure, probably Vintage Air. New fuel cell where the spare is. Lots of replacement parts, bushings, mounts, weatherstripping, windows.... Lots to do! |

Re: New Guy... Old Truck...
Body is very straight. Had a big homemade brush guard on it and I suppose that is what protected it. It am probably going to leave the paint and body as-is. I am digging the patina'd look and mine happens to be authentic.

Re: New Guy... Old Truck...
Great looking truck. You and I are in the same spot. I just started working on my truck last week. I am jealous though you have a fleetside and the original bench seat. Look forward to watching your build. I hope to have mine running in the next few months as well.
Bret
