Re: Window removal

you have to take the wing vent out first.. then you'll have plenty of room to get the door glass out..

Re: Window removal

1. Remove the door panel
2. Look at the windshield edge of your door structure (from the outside, with the door open), there are 2 sheet metal screws along this edge, take them out
3. Just below the " window roller" there are two screws (one just above the other, vertically), romove both
4. Roll your window down
5. With a hand on the vent window! Get a look at the "top edge" edge of your door, you might have to stand on something, as you should be "above" the door looking down from above the door frame. At the top (windshield edge/end), you will see one single sheet metal screw, (again put a hand on the vent window), remove this last screw.
6. Now the vent is free, work the top edge back towards the back of the door (rear of the truck) pushing slightly down on the vent as well.
You should notice the vent is working free from its mounted position.
You should have it coming out in no time.
Just take your time and you might spray th seal with lubricant if it seems " struck" in place!

Great info and description! Only thing I would add- it's easier if you remove the door glass channel from the top and rear of door.

Re: Window removal

Just kinda OT, but does anyone know of a source besides a junk yard that sells the regulator tracks that go below the window frame? The doors I bought came without any internals and those tracks are the last pieces I need to rebuild them.

Re: Window removal

Oh, and one more thing I forgot to mention;
Take the vent window out from the inside of the door, (pull it out towards the inside), not the out! (repeat this process when you are putting it back in)

And dont forget the divider bar had those 2 lower vertical screws where it mounted, becasue once you get it coming out you'll have to slow down and pay attention to the bottom of the divider, there will be a base that requires you to turn the entire assy. 90deg. to clear the window channel opening.
NOTE: that there is a notched area in the door where the divider is, this is where you need to get the divider mounting base clear of the door.

Just go slow and you'll encouter the base I am refering too, locate teh nothed area, rotate 90 deg, and it will come right out!

If you have good paint and want to protect it, you might want to palce some painters tape in this area when you re-install, just to be safe!
