Re: engine swap
That really depends on your skill level and the tools you have to work with..

Re: engine swap
True but its not a major as you dont need to cut the frame or firewall or stuff like that. And if you are changing out the original front suspension & steering at the same time, then theres kits that you can buy to make the job easier. Scotts Hot Rods are on here and they produces an awesome front end setup, (but its a bit far away from me here at the bottom of the South Pacific.) So thats an option too.
My 48 Chev pickup has Jag suspension & steering and the 350 fitted in with a set of generic style block huggers, with no cutting of the original frame or firewall. |

Re: engine swap
What transmission do you plan to use. I tried to respond on Facebook last night but the internet at my house wasn't working very well.
There are a couple of ways to go on the engine mount. These are only suggestions for the style and not suggestions for where to buy them. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/S-B-B-...ount,3273.html This one uses the stock side mounts for 58/64 or something Chevy V8 engines and is easy to install. This one is commonly referred to as a "Hurst" mount and bolts to the front of the block and uses Ford biscuit style mounts. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1955-1...ount,6725.html Again it is easy to install. Not always good with power accessories though. That one uses cushions like this. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1955-1...ount,6725.html Those sit on brackets something like this that are fastened to the frame. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1928-1...apters,77.html These won't work as they are for a Model A Ford frame. The big rub on a V8 to AD truck engine swap is that the steering box is right in the big middle of where the left exhaust manifold wants to go. Gotta go to work. |
