Re: hids on a 75
I dont if you headlight is a one piece or not but for the most part you buy a HID which comes with 2x bc balisks aka light and 2 igniter boxes which can be plug and play or hard wired

Re: hids on a 75
You need to do a lens. If you don't you will be blinding traffic and in some states, its not even legal unless you do a lens. Not to mention, you'll just be scattering the beam pattern everywhere and you won't be seeing near the benefit from the HID's that you would with a lens. Those who do 'em without lenses just don't know what they're doing and shouldn't have done anything until they did.
You can get some from the junkyard, out of some smashed headlights off of some newer vehicle that didn't damage the lens. Often time the lens will be spared in a crash because they are kinda thick and dense. For these old trucks, the one I've seen most commonly used is are out of acura's. The lens is big and works well in these truck's headlights. You're gonna have to drill out the back and mount the lens in there. I'm sure someone else can go into more detail. Disregard all this if you already know but from reading your posts I wasn't sure if you were already going to do this or not. |

Re: hids on a 75
Honestly a h4 kit with relays is brighter then stock and more then enough for city driving at night. If you live way out in the sticks then hids would be worth doing. Also watch ebay a lot sell what they call a hid but its not.

Re: hids on a 75
Actually hids are meant to be used in projector housings like what most of the new cars use
You CAN use hids in hella e-code housings since they do have a very pronounced cutoff with h4s and some cutoff with hid but there will be glare and some bleed over I do know where you can get an hid projector kit with angel eyes or not for about 250 Posted via Mobile Device

Re: hids on a 75
If you just want a lot brighter than stock and don't want to have to do the projector lens conversion, then just do an H4 relay setup. Much easier, and that's what I did in my truck. 10x brighter than those sorry stock headlights. It looks like daylight almost.

Amico H4 9003 Headlight Socket Ceramic Plug... And you'll of course need some 12 volt relays with a fuse. I recommend these cause they have the fuse built in and you don't have to mess around with all that in-line stuff. HELLA 003530041 12V/25 Amp SPST Mini ISO Relay... And then you'll need these cause those stock headlamps aren't going to cut it with H4's. Now I will recommend going around the outside of those with an additional bead of silicon. I did on my truck, and I did it on my new headlights for my 94 Mustang. Some of these parts have a tendency to leak. My old ebay aftermarket headlights leaked, so I used the silicon, and the new ones don't leak. You can use some high temp clear and mush it down in the seam tightly and no one can tell its even there. And it does need to be high temp. So I guess take that for what its worth. Provided they don't need to get air from that part. I checked and mine don't, you'll have to take a look at yours when you buy them and make sure yours don't. If those are 7" ones are not the right size for your truck, they have them on ebay somewhere you just have to look around. Also note that they're not blue, that's the reflection of the bulb that comes with them, on the inside of the headlight. You can get a clear H4 bulb if you want and you wouldn't get that blueish color. Its not very apparent on my 4 eyes truck so I'm just going to wait till those bulbs finally burn out and replace them with clear. Or white. The H4 bulb beats the... poop out of that stock junk for brightness. The bulb itself is about 4x the size of the stock bulbs and seems about 4x as bright. http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-HALOGEN-CR...sories&vxp=mtr Now that's about what it cost me. Maybe a little more cause I have 2 more headlights. But its still cheaper than HID's by about $80. Cause you have to have all of this already to run them, (just different headlights with lenses) PLUS the HID kit itself which is about $80. That is the cheapest price I have seen for a decent kit. But they can range higher than that. And now that I have my H4's, I really don't see the need for an HID setup unless you just like the look. I do like the look of the headlights and the light itself, but I would never switch over for reasons of brightness and visibility alone. Because the H4's accomplish that very well. As a side note, these look really nice for anyone who has the 7x6" size headlights. I know a lot of people fix up the worktrucks and such that came with those. With these, you could just buy your HID's and wire 'em up. No lens modding to a set of headlights necessary. http://www.ebay.com/itm/7x6-DIAMOND-...33d16f&vxp=mtr Here is mine and what they look like on the truck.
