What do buy for a standard dash speaker?

I just scored an AM/FM unit for my '71 GMC and would like to replace the speaker when I install it. I'm pretty sound system illiterate and am not looking for anything exotic. I just want an OEM replacement speaker. What should I be looking for? I don't even know where to start.

You can get original ones reconed for around $50 or there is a company that sells repo ones that are dead on for about $65 I think. I will try to find the site.

I found at least one other option, while I was searching for the same thing. I may have bookmarked additional sites, I'll keep looking

Re: What do buy for a standard dash speaker?

I like going to audio shop's when I have a bad speaker. I ask them if they have any used speakers from installs that fit whatever I am looking for. Usually get a great deal since it is probably going to end up in the trash anyway.

I usually go to Radio Shack. They usually have as good a speaker as anyone and the price and availability is good.

x3 on turnswitch for the speaker. Perfect reproduction of the original, and it has the proper impedance so it won't burn up your stock radio.

I have some 4x10 Kickers (BNIB) if anyone is interested. Kicker is pretty much the only popular brand that makes them still.

Do you still have the original speaker mount? I seen some on the board here for sale not to long ago. Take a few pics when u get it done and installed. Score on the radio!
