brake problem question
i have a 69 cst that came from the factory with manual drum brakes...my problem is that when i do a series of short stops one or the other front wheel locks up and after a few times the pedal gets hard and gets a funny smell to it....has anyone had this type problem?

Re: brake problem question
If I understand your post, it seems that your master cylinder piston is not fully retracting. If the return hole is not able to let the fluid return to the reservoir, pressure will begin to go up so that the brakes start to drag. Usually, the problem is that the push rod is too long. Sometimes, rust will build up in the cylinder bore and hold the piston forward just enough to block the return hole. I hope these suggestions will give you a place to start to fix the problem. Roy

Re: brake problem question
Maybe a leaking wheel cylinder.
