Gonna make a good truck to clear coat over until i have the money for a real paint job how do i tell if the motor has been updated. it looks different than the previous 51 inline 6 i had. this weekend im gonna clean the gas tank and carb and see if itll crank over

How long has it been since it ran? The engine looks like it's clean-for-an-ordinarily-used-engine. The upholstery looks fresh for a daily. If this is all true it oughta start right up with very little work.

Re: Look at this great deal

That's a 235, probably mid to late 50's.
The oil filter is a factory option.

Re: Look at this great deal

if it was a motor out a 49 it would have 2 acorn nuts on top of the valve covers to hold it down

Yes it does.. They swapped a lot of them into those old flatbeds back in the 50's and 60's and maybe even up into the 70's.

With the full pressure oiling it should make a pretty good engine for that truck.
