preparing the truck for a 2 year hibernation.

I am going to be leaving my truck for the next 2 years. I was wondering what you guys would suggest i do to keep everything in good shape. Thanks

Drain the gas, and coolant (block plugs too). Remove the battery.

Two years, huh? Sounds familiar.

The best thing, if you have someone you trust, is to have them start it once a month and let it warm up. Drive it just enough to not let the tires sit in one spot - they tend to get flat spots sitting that long.

If not, I would make sure the body is as clean as you can get it, so that any salt that might be hiding is washed off, and then give it at least a coat of carwash hot wax to hold down the growth of rust.

A light coat of oil in the cylinders would also be a good idea, to keep the rings from rusting to the cylinder walls.

And since you're in Cedar (anywhere in Utah, really) I would try to make sure mice can't get into the cab.

Those Silica gel packs like they put in electronics will keep the musty smell out of it too. They will absorb any moisture .. etc.

Maybe put one on a disposable plate or something and sit it under the seat.
