3 to 4 inch lift on 2wd truck. CONS?
Got a 72 c10 half ton with a 12 bolt rear. If I had to do it all over again I would have got a K series. I think the truck would look better lifted. Nothing crazy though. Any reason why I shouldn't do this?? If not what's the best way to go about it?

Just get some drop spindles and install them upside down!
Actually, no, don't do that. The rear is easy if you have leafs, but I always worry about messing up the suspension geometry when changing the front. An inch or two is probably OK, but if you're going 3-4, you can't (or shouldn't) try to do it in the confines of the regular control arm travel, I don't think.

i think your best and cheapest bet would be to buy a 3 inch body lift, i wouldnt see any point in messing with the suspension since its a 2 wheel drive, the body lift will be cheaper than a suspension lift anyways and you'll still have room to put bigger tires on if you wanted
i dont see any cons to this other than your lifting a 2 wheel drive lol but thats just a matter of opinion as everyone has their own persnal preference, i dont think a 3 inch body lift is going to effect your gas mileage very much if any at all also depends what your using the truck for or if your doing it just for looks |

Wow. Thank you guys. I REALLY appreciate your input. Man I really wish I would have got a K series truck. I would feel much better about putting a mild lift on something 4x4. Hey, if anybody knows if someone is in the EAST time zone that would trade any year Chevy 4x4 with an egg crate grill for a 72 c10 please let me know. Just got my c1o in April and I'm leary of how it will perform in bad weather (snow). Then again, does anyone have any c10 snow stories?

Well, I could tell you how badly my K20 sucks in snow when it's in 2WD mode.... and how well it does after engaging 4WD!!

Good tires and plenty of weight and you'll be fine. Make sure you wash it all out thoroughly up under the truck rockers,cab corners,inside the door drains,and over the wheel arches as an attempt to slow rusting.
You can raise it 2" w/o any problems with front end alignment. C/30 springs will about do it. You can swap a complete a-arm assembly from an 88-98. Fab-Tec used to,and may still,make long travel a-arms and raised spindles.

if you know how to drive in the snow and on ice a C10 works just fine// last time i drove one in snow i had a full trailer and was in snow ice and slush for near a thousand miles movin to florida had that weather from NY the whole way to mid georgia// that was for sure a white knuckel 24hour driving experience

Cdowns and bruceman thanks. I think right know I'm going to go with bigger wheels and tires and when the ice comes grab some chains. Now that I think about it. Anything over 3 inches fir me would be overkill ... I'll. Be fine with two... depending on how it LOOKS I might just leave it alone. Know where I can get a good deal on either 15 16 or 17x10 or9 slotted wheels?

I have the same problem with my 71 2wd c1o...I am wanting to raise the suspension 3 inches....if I put in the c30 springs would that hurt my suspension travel or steering geometry? also would the c30 springs do the same for the rear? the fabtech setup from a 88-98 truck...does it come w springs? is it a kit designed for the older c10's or will it just work on the older ones? if its designed for the 88-98 trucks is there any modifying I'll have to do to make it work for my 71?

I would go with a leaf spring/solid beam axle on the front,like they did on '60s gassers if I wanted to raise a 2wd to sit like a 4wd.
