A good day and a bad day!

The day started good...picked up drive shaft, new u-joints and balanced...last thing I needed to do before test drive, after finishing all new front end suspension and ECE drop kit. Waited for the neighbor to come home to help heave the bed back on...got a look at the stance and was pretty friickin happy with it. Took it for spin, and everything felt good and tight.
THEN.....
Loaded up the family, and like a dumb a$$ back out of the drive too fast, bottomed out the temporary exhaust and cracked a manifold.
O'Reilly's wants $120 for a new one...sucks!!! Might as well get headers for tha price.
Anybody have an extra exhaust manifold (drivers side) laying around??

Anyway heres some pics of the LOUD ride!

was it a rams horn manifold? those things are next to impossible to find, i do have a couple of the 73-80 style small block manfolds kickin around, but the shipping to kansas would be rediculous

I just saw a rams horn at the junkyard auction I went to this weekend. I'm going back there this weekend to probably get some more parts. I'll see if I can get if for cheap. BTW, I really like the stance of your truck and would like to mimic it on my 72. Give me the details. What size wheels and tires? What kind and how much of a drop. Thanks.

Thanks Jeffbo, but I'm not sure what the shipping woud be from NC.
How do I know if it is a Rams Horm manifold...I assume it is shapped like Rams horns... see how quick I am!!

Does anyone have a picture that I can compare??



Anyway, the drop is 3.5" front, with 2.5" spindles, and 1" springs.
The rear is supposed to be 5" drop springs, but I sure thought it would an inch or so lower in the rear...but I'm liking it the way it is.
The tires, right now are 235/70/15, I will probably go a little wider, but about the same height with a 60

I got everything from Early Classic Enterprises:
Complete Moog front end re-build kit, Springs, Spindles, Shocks, Shock re-locator kit, Super Track bar, plus some sway bar bushings, trailing arm bushings etc..
Super Company to deal with. I worked with Stan, very nice guy, and he made me a real good deal on everything. Split the shipping with me etc...

I'm in South Dakota, not NC. The shipping to Kansas might not be to bad, but first I'll have to see if I can find those manifolds again and get them cheap. I'll let you know what I come up with, but it won't be until after this weekend. I don't have a picture of a rams horn, but I'm sure someone else does, or you could try a search for it. Basically, they are shaped like a rams horn like you said. They are a center dump manifold with two arch shaped pipes going to the exhaust ports. Kind of hard to explain.

Don't give O'Reill's $120 for a manifold.....$120 and you can get a pair of headers!!

Ramshorns aren't to hard to find...most junkyards should have some. I sold a pair for $40 to a board member about a year ago.

Local yard is telling me first off that a used one will run $100...
Of course he can get me a new one for $125...
Then he tells me he is surprised that I have a 350 in a 72 chevy truck, that the 307 was the most common engine in that truck...

Thanks everyone... I found one at a used truck lot, that I have dealt with quite a bit. The owner rebuilds these trucks, so I stoped by and asked if he had one for sale. He rummaged through the bathroom (parts storage room) and pulled out a very nice, drivers side Rams Horn.
Got lucky I guess.
