Vapor Barrier anyone?
Did my '68 come with any kind of vapor barrier behind the door panel to keep moisture out of the cab? I know these are "wet" doors and so is my '66 Falcon and it has them. Even if it didn't, I think it is a good idea.

if your talking about a charcoal canister then, yes our truck did have them but they were only on A/C cabs, and they were located on the left side of the battery. some 71's and all 72's had a vent on the driver door jamb, this helps air realease out of the cab when you have both windows rolled up and you shut one door while the other is closed.

I don't think they came with a vapor barrier, unless you have a fabric door panel I doubt it would do any good.

Re: Vapor Barrier anyone?
My Falcon has a pasteboard door panel with a thinly padded vinyl inner door covering glued to it. My truck (now) has a padded vinyl door covering glued to the metal door panel. The only difference is the substrate, (pasteboard vs. steel door panel) The moisture could still cause the metal door panel to rust from the inside out. Moisture on the back of the padding could probably even allow a musty smell from the wet material.
I replaced the worn out tarpaper moisture barrier on the Falcon with 4 mill plastic sheet. I will probably do the same on old blue. Cheap insurance. |

Replace the window wipes and window channel rubber as well.

All that is new. That will help, but you know that water still gets in there.

Re: Vapor Barrier anyone?
Before I put my door panels back on, i am going to put a plastic sheet behind the panel. Just makes sense.
