looking for disk brakes for my newly aquired 60 chevy c10

I know that 70 to 78 or so should have spindles that will work on my truck, does anyone know which exact year will work to convert my 60 c10 to disk brakes? This truck had disk brakes on it from the p.o. But he took them off before he sold me the truck for $200.00 bones.

70 models are drum brake fronts. Depending on what ball joints you have it would be either 71-72 or 73-87. The 73-87 also had 1" or 1.25" thick rotors.

Hope this helps and not confuse anything...

I would just swap to a 73-87 front crossmember and get 6 lug rotors for it. You should be able to pickup a complete crossmember for 100-150 bucks. Rotors are 120 I beleive.

If you are wanting to keep the torsion bars and original control arms, aftermarket conversion spindles and related parts are your only option. If you are willing to change the entire front suspension crossmember and all, then a '71-'87 front suspension is the way to go. In my area the '73-'87's are much easier to find.

Re: looking for disk brakes for my newly aquired 60 chevy c10

A little word of advise. I see some of the side trim is still on the truck. Whatever you do, do not throw that away. That trim is very hard to find, even bits and pieces.

Looks like not a bad truck. It does need a little work, but that's why we call them projects.

The big back window is a bonus, and the windshield trim looks to be all there.
