Ball Joint question

Converting my 66 to disc up front with 72 componets...the drop spindles I bought were said to be for 71-72. Ordered new ball joints for 71-72. Does the lower ball joint get pressed into the control arm AND the spindle? Or should it just slide in? The drop spindels are mcgaughys and I tried to look up part number but could not find anything on their website.

Re: Ball Joint question

The lower b-joint presses into the control arm, but is a bolt into the spindle. You might check the taper on the b-joint pin,vs the spindle....just to verify that they are the same yr parts. crazyl

Does it look like this?

The castings are the same from 60 to 72.
The size of the balljoint joint holes and outer tie rod holes are different.
It's hard to tell what you have,... until you confirm which ball joints and outer tie rods fit.
