front end swap. HELP
I took the 70 drum brake system and installed it on my 72. The front end now sits higher than before and my caster adjustment is way off. I am swaping all the parts because I am selling the 72. I had to heat the front coils and let the front end drop an inch just to get it close. Do I need to buy new coils? I did switch from 235/75/15 to 275/60/15 in the front so It does drive different but steering in just not the same. Any thoughts.

Re: front end swap. HELP
The 275 tires are going to be taller than the 235 tires. It sounds like it's all tires size...
So are you going to put the disc setup on the '70? You just lost one of the the selling points of the '72 by installing the drums up front. When I bought my '72, I did so so I got the body style along with disc brakes up front. Unless the '72 is a hulk parts truck and you're just trying to get rid of it. Gary

Re: front end swap. HELP
Tire size is not the problem. It appears the the location of the spindle from the drum set up is different the the spindle location from the disc set up. I already have the 72 sold and the n.o. does not care if it is drum or disc. I am installing the disc set up on the 70.

Re: front end swap. HELP
Did the 72 have drop spindles on it? Sounds like it.

Re: front end swap. HELP
It does not have drop spindles. The caster adjustment is way off. I can,t even shim the caster into spec.
