Re: Custom 47 GMC

That could be the deal of the year for someone who had the skills to finish it and the need for such a truck. He isn't clear about it running and driving and there is no indication of what engine or trans it now has which makes me wonder if it runs. An hour from my inlaws too.

I'd think it wouldn't be that hard to pull the hauler bed off it and have a rv body put on it. Maybe the back half of an Airstream motorhome that had been hit in the front.

There are some rv shops around the country that will custom build an rv coach on your chassis.

Re: Custom 47 GMC

I would be concerned about the frame. That is a LONG wheelbase for a 1 ton single axle application. I do not know if its the photo but it looks like the running boards are bowing, 20' of string would confirm or deny. In the drivers side photo there is something going on with the body below the big window, there is a ripple in the reflection. There is a lot of work, at least 15K worth, but I think it needs re-thought from the cab back.

Where are the widows? How can you check for coyotes before walking outside?

Re: Custom 47 GMC

It states there is a fifth wheel hitch. Looks like it is right over the rear axle. That would be one long truck and trailer combo. With my fifth wheel trailer it would probably be 70+ feet long. Judging by the fifth wheel in the picture it looks over 40' long. Too long for the law. 60' total length in PA. Neat idea though.....go camping with the family and have 20' of deck space to put a car on to haul home.
