69 c20 rear suspension swap

Got me a '69 C20, and want to convert it over to 1/2 ton suspension with 5 lugs. A buddy of mine has a partial 88 C10, and I was wondering if I could use the rear end, and springs from it??? I would love to, but know I cant use any of the front suspension from it

Re: 69 c20 rear suspension swap

the 88 rear end is much wider that your truck. I think 3" (dont quote me). It is also a 10bolt. To make things easy for you and to get the stronger 12 bolt go to a bone yard or check craigslist or the forum and look for a 71 to late 70's 1/2 ton rear and use that. it is wider, it will bolt right in and it will save you allot of effort.

also welcome to the forum!

Re: 69 c20 rear suspension swap

Thanks. I already found through google searching, that the rear from 88 and up will be too wide. I dont think I really need to worry about the strength of 10 vs 12 bolt, as I wont use the truck for hauling, nor will it have a big motor. I was wondering though, and just posted the question if perhaps a second gen Camaro rear would swap into the truck. I know it's narrower, and that may be what I want so I could fit wider tires and rims inside the wheel wells. Even if I had to widen the wheel wells inside the bed an inch or two
