feedback on 8" boosters

Thinking of buying a smaller booster to get more room and maybe it will help with low vacuum. Something similar to this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/221036147208...84.m1423.l2649
Did any one try one yet? How is a feedback on them? I already have power brakes but can't find a small booster by itself . I want to get some runs at Irwindale 1/8 mile and theirs shut down area design mostlly for newer vehicles. Even at 80mps somtimes it's a bicth to get off. It will be a little faster now. Thanks a lot

Re: feedback on 8" boosters

I have one on my GMC. Heard before I purchased it that if you have a radical cam that the vaccum it produces would effect it's operation. I am using it with a basic stock 350 and have noticed no noticeable reduced performance. Those 8" are available individually without buying everything in a package both on E-Bay all the time. I believe CPP even sells them also. If your engine is beyond a stock configuration I would recommend contacting someone who has expertise in smaller boosters to figure what you would be satisfied with.

Re: feedback on 8" boosters

I'm using one on a stock 250 6 cyl.It works well.Doesn't make the brakes better but does reduce pedall pressure. It also gave me enough room to miss the induction system(carb, intake air cleaner).

I don't think an 8" dual booster will do much different then an 11" single. How much vacuum pressure is your engine producing? I have an 8" dual with a 383 Stroker motor that produces 11" of vacuum. I'm not that impressed. If I were you and running this on the strip I would consider adding a vacuum can.

I use an 8" dual diaphragm booster on my 67. The engine is too wide for the stock unit and with it's fairly radical cam this motor makes only 9 in of vacuum, not the 16 or so most boosters need to function correctly so...I installed a remote vacuum pump to run the booster. Works just fine.

Re: feedback on 8" boosters

Got it in tonight and put some miles on it. At least now I have room to remove valve covers. For some reasons brake light is coming on and off but i never opened the system.

Re: feedback on 8" boosters

Probably cause your rod from the booster isn't seated on the piston of the MC correctly yet.
