VIN Location ?
I was told the VIN is under the gas tank but so far I've not found a single '67 ~ '73 with this feature .
Where is it located ? . Cab and frame locations with pictures please . TIA ,

Re: VIN Location ?
3 places i know of are the spid on the glove box door, theres a vin plate on the drivers door jamb under the striker bar (the thing your door latches to when its closed), and on the drivers side on the frame but from what iv heard you cant get to it or very easily at least when the truck is assembled, iv never heard of one being where you mentioned unless maybe the vin was on a build sheet left behind by the workers

Re: VIN Location ?
On the driver's door jam, on the SPID like this:
and on the top of the frame on the driver's side between the steering box area and the firewall there will be a partial VIN that will match the end of your VIN if the frame matches the cab. The stamping is clearly visible if you clean and sand the paint off the top of the frame.

Re: VIN Location ?
Okay, I found 4 locations on my truck. One was on the SPID on the inside of the glove box door; second one was the VIN tag on the cab, in the drivers door opening; the third and fourth are not complete VIN's, but are the numbers which begin with the letter denoting the factory where it was built. Both of those numbers are on the drivers side frame rail. One of them is beneath the cab, while the other is in front of the firewall. Next time I am at my sons' house, I'll take pix so you can see what I mean. My truck is below: It says "9S812417". It is a '69 that was built in St. Louis and it is the 12417th for that year. Kinda funny, tho. Everything I found on my truck that was dated, is all from September of '68; seat belts are dated as is the block. I don't have the original intake or carburetor, so I can't say for those. I wish I had the build sheet, but I don't. Best I can tell, my truck was built the third week of September, 1968. For the VIN to say it was the 12,417th one is making me wonder how many of whatever body style was built on that line. Oh, all vehicles built at St. Louis for '68, have VIN's starting with the numeral "8".
Those of you who have done a body-off will already know.
