I think I just bought another one

So last week I found an ad on Craigslist for two 1970 c-10's for sale. The ad was short and left out a lot of details but it had three words that I can't resist. Tach, tilt, and buckets. I called the guy up figuring it was a newer knee knocker tach, maybe a true tilt truck, but definitely not true era correct buckets consider the low asking price for both trucks. After a five minute phone call it turned out that he bought the truck on ebay about 10 years ago and didn't do anything to it. He is the second owner and parked the truck in a barn and hasn't touched it since. I went to check it out today and the truck is a true numbers correct 1970 c/10 with tach, tilt, buckets, AC, PS, PB, hugger orange and white, lwb, all original truck. The only downfall is it needs rockers, cab corners, and cab supports. And the motor is pulled and in pieces but the original 350 blew up back in the 80's and was replaced with a newer model 350. I am going back Saturday with a trailer to pick her up and there should be pictures following.

I plan on converting it to a short bed, fixing the rust, and putting a 1970 numbers big block in it. This will be my original looking build. Gonna keep stock ride height, white walls, full wheel covers, just a nicely optioned original 1970. Stay tuned for pictures

Re: I think I just bought another one

IMO I would not chop it up to make a short bed. She is almost all original, which is hard to find these day. Motor's are pretty easy to come by, just have to find one that is date correct. These trucks didn't have the matching numbers from truck to block. Only way to tell was to read the code on the block, and if it was decoded to the right year you had an era/year correct motor.

Whatever you decision is, we are still going to enjoy hearing and seeing the build. Good luck in have fun.

Re: I think I just bought another one

Thanks for the input guys. I took my girlfriend to see it with me and as soon as she saw my face when we pulled up she said you're gonna buy it aren't you. Haha, the only reason I want to make it a ssb is cause the original longbed is kinda rusty. And I have a really nice swb fleetside wood floor bed that would be a perfect contender for an original truck. I'll take some pictures of the rust when I get her home and see what you guys think. My dad already offered my twice what I am gonna pay for it just for the cab, fenders, and the options. I said heck no, find your own truck man

I'm doing pretty well. I made deans list both semesters last year and I'm on the same track this semester. Yea my avatar picture was taken by my sister. She is a professional photographer and my girlfriend asked her to do a photoshoot of us. My only condition was that my truck had to be included

Re: I think I just bought another one

What would you guys value this truck at? I've been going back and forth with the guy and he wants to back out of the deal but I'm trying really hard to save this thing. The deal is he has a storage container with a set of 72 doors, front fenders, all rust free, some radios, bumpers, just misc parts. Then there is the 70 orange truck without a motor and another 70 swb that is in pieces and needs rust repair. Can anyone give me an idea on what they would pay for this? Both trucks have titles

Yea I wouldn't want to mess with the shortbed but the longbed isn't that bad. Considering the options I would definitely repair the rust and save a nicely optioned truck
