Re: 99 Suburban crawler project

It is a fairly big project, doing everything myself doesn't make it any easier,,, the 89 sub frame I'm using has soooo many stupid rivets I have to cut off to get the suspension put together,,Name: image.jpg

Size: 55.3 KB ,here I got the front drivers side mount off had to take off the body mount to get the spring hanger off, 20 rivets on each side,, they have to be moved 3 inches forward to except the 63" springs, 56" were stock, I setting it up so the axle will be 1-2 inches back to fit bigger tires, 37's, the front will be moved 2" forward,,, the biggest problem is still gonna be connecting the 99 body to the 89 frame, the 99 is about 10" wider

Re: 99 Suburban crawler project

My burb has the 3rd row seat. there is a bracket that holds the floor up to the back of middle seat to give the 3rd row passenger leg room.

Re: 99 Suburban crawler project

Cut the frame apart today so I can start boxing it ,, flexed way too much stock, I will also ditch all the factory cross members and build stronger ones

Re: 99 Suburban crawler project

Solid axle swaps are fairly easy due to the number of people offering kits to do it,, since my frame was bent and I had the 89 frame already I decided to give it a shot,,,,, tomorrow my Diy4x a-bomb ships, can't wait to see how it looks with the 99 body

Re: 99 Suburban crawler project

I like the 80's frames because of the narrower rear spring setup, easier to flex
