Gmc v6 question

There's a two ton gmc grain truck for sale in my town that has a v6 in it that runs and drives. Grille is pretty straight on it but is the v6 worth anything or the grille? I'm going to take a better look at it later but I have a few pics.. Lmk what you think

Re: Gmc v6 question

One of the most overbuilt engines that GMC ever made in my opinion. Still alot of people driving them and looking for them. If it had p/s, itd bring more. If the grill is in good condition, shouldn't have any problem finding a home for it.

Re: Gmc v6 question

DTKARST:
Take a look in front of the passenger side valve cover for the cubic inches of that engine. With the I beam exhaust manifolds, it is likely a 351 or 401 cubic inch motor. Those two are a bit more desirable than a 305 cubic inch. Value is pretty limited due to the weight of the motor. You will have to find someone nearby who wants to save it. All three of those motors bolt in interchangeably, thus folks are more interested in bigger cubic inches.

Is the grill painted or chrome? Chrome grills in decent shape have some value and can be easily shipped.

Hope this helps.

Re: Gmc v6 question

If it was in my back yard I would snatch the V6.

Re: Gmc v6 question

Thanks for the responses. I dont have any need to the V6 or grille since I dont have any gmcs, but i know the guy was asking $500 for the truck with a wheat box and hoist on it but he took it off so the truck is cheap. The cab is rusted out in the roof, and the grille is painted and pretty straight. Didnt know the desire for a v6 or anything.
