700r4 mounting question

So I installed a 502/700r4 in my 63 shortie shop truck and I had a tube trans crossmember from a different project so I bolted up everything so my question is I leveled the motor/trans combo off the carb mounting flange but end of trans seems high but everything clears is that right ?

Re: 700r4 mounting question

You'll just have to pay attention to the pinion angle of your rearend...which you would need to do anyway with a drivetrain swap.

Re: 700r4 mounting question

The trans output shaft and the pinion need to be on the same plane. Otherwise you can have driveshaft vibration issues.

If you've already made your calculations for crank centerline height, leveled your engine/trans where you want it, and mounted the drivetrain, then what is your question? What is a "stock floored my frame"? This is a simplified diagram/explanation of what I generally use for calculating pinion angles - http://markwilliams.com/driveshafttech.aspx. As Captainfab mentioned and what I noted in my earlier post, you'll need to confirm pinion angle according to where your driveline components end up being mounted to ensure proper drive shaft operation. I build and set up a lot of drag car chassis and due to really tall rear tires, very rarely are the engine/trans and the rearend housing are at the same height.

The end of the trans is not "noticeably" above horizontal, is it?
