back in those days we had a lot of farmers that wanted the top of the line trim package , but wanted the three on the tree instead of the auto trans. it lasted longer pulling cotton trailers to the gin...they would get several phone calls from the dealer and factory making sure the order was correct before they built it. they could not believe that any one would want the top of the line pickup with a standard trans. in it...

Are the A pillars OK? Seem like it would be relatively easy to weld a new roof on and cut it along the paint divider strip on the back of the cab.

I don't know, Zoomin. The floor has quite a bit of rust too. Looks like the accident happened several years ago and it's been sitting outside. I'll probably do a cab swap. Anyone have a non-AC Cheyenne cab in the Southeast?!!
I pulled the valve covers yesterday and gave all the valves a good whack with a hammer and they all had some give so I don't think any are stuck. So motorheads, is it time for a cam change?

I missed out on a 72 Cheyenne Super a few years back that was a SWB, 6 cylinder, 3OTT, no AC. I cant rmember if it even had power steering or brakes. Definitely out of the ordinary. My brother has a black/ black 72 Cheyenne lwb big block 402 side tool box that has everything but tach and bucket seats. He added a tach dash when he restored it.My other brother had a copper/ white 71 Super lwb big block 400 tach tilt side tool box CRUISE (!) dealer AC DELCO air shocks with air compressor with everything but buckets. They are more common.

Cool truck! My guess is that this was the truck the dealer advertised in the news paper back in '72, probably had a headline saying "We're the only dealer in a four state area that will sell you a brand new Cheyenne Super for less than $3000" (or what ever ammount, not sure what the average price of a super was then) And then when you got to the dealership, this is what they showed you, but then 'talked' you into a higher priced truck.
