What to put between frame and conv. plate?
I have my 5.3L ready to be installed. I have my motor mount conversion plates. What motor mounts do I install that go between the original engine frame stands and the conversion plates?
Thanks, Kevin C

plates onto block, sbc mounts onto engine perches. Drop one down into the other.

Re: What to put between frame and conv. plate?
There's several different kinds of small block motor mounts, use what ever style motor mounts originally went to your stands.

Re: What to put between frame and conv. plate?
That's the tricky part. My truck came as a roller with no engine so all I have is the frame stands that are attached to the top of the frame and the other end attached to the cross member. The original motor mounts were not there so I don't know what style mounts I need. Would you have a part number or a source to get them?
Thanks, kevin C

Here's a picture of the engine bay so you know what I'm getting at.

Re: What to put between frame and conv. plate?
pics of the engine perches and where they bolt up would help, but I'll take a shot.
The perches between the 6 and 8's mount in different positions, so when coupling them with mounts and swap plates, the engine positions may change. The I6 and v8 perches BOTH can accept SBC motor mounts. I used TransDapt swap plates, I6 perches (moved to the FRONT set of bolt holes). You'll notice the perches can bolt in 2 locations, and if your willing to drill a new hole, you have plenty of room to move the engine forward or backward as needed. My combo is I6 perches, Transdapt swap plates in the "regular" position (they can be used to set engine back another 1"), and 72 SBC motor mounts. The 63--72 sbc mounts are all the same and will work fine. My engine clears the fire wall by an easy 1/2", which was the minimum I was comfortable with to run fuel lines etc. If you relocated COP coils and don't run an engine cover, you can move it even closer.

Re: What to put between frame and conv. plate?
Here's a better picture of the cross member and the location of the frame mounts. The previous owner said he had a small block in it, but he said lots of things just to find out he didn't do it. He may have had a I6 in there for all I know.
I also included a picture of the type of conversion plate I'm using. I would like to have the engine sitting farther back if possible. Please advise.

Re: What to put between frame and conv. plate?
Now that I looked at the pic again... they kind of do look like they're in the I6 position. So the engine will probably be set back further than stock. Since that's what you want. I would just stab the engine in and see how it looks.
