For those that have champion radiator. What did you do for Steam port?

Called champion today for a quote. 3 core with 14" or 16" fan relays and wiring kit, built in tranny cooler for $353.60 which is a great price compared to Entropy. This should drop right in with no mods and should suffice for the LS motor.

Question is what are you guys doing for the steam port. He told me they will not put one in and they do not come with them. ?

I have a LY5 5.3 from 07 tahoe. So mine is already plumbed and i just need to hook it up to radiator, unless there is another option.

I spliced it into the hose with an aluminum adapter drilled for a hose barb. Others have had someone tig a barb onto the aluminum radiator itself. More than one way to skin a cat...

Update- They will add the steam barb for $50

Total comes out to $ 404.95

This is for a stock LY5.

You don't have to weld in a steam port fitting, you can just use a bulkhead fitting with an o-ring. Drill a hole in the tank near the filler. You can access the nut for the fitting thru the filler hole. I have run this way for a couple of years, no problem.

It needs to be on the high pressure side of the system.

Yes....There HAS to be a water cross over.

For MCMLXIX,

Sorry for the delay. I used a standard AN-3 bulkhead fitting. I sealed it against the tank with an o-ring washer as shown in the pics. Works good.

The champion core is leaking so I am switching to a Griffin made for our trucks with the LS swap. So the inlet and outlet are LS size and the steam fitting bung comes welded in.

I drilled and tapped my water pump and ran it there.

best shot I have of the steam tube...running from the front of one head to another (with a piece of rubber hose for vibration insulation in the middle) along the front of the valley pan... and then the barb you connect to, on one end of the tube pointing up, which has blue tape on it.
