There is really not much literature and information available on these low production GMC's of the 60's, not unless you were around back then and remember.
The plaid valve covers weren't a promotion, there was a rocker arm recall (I believe that's what was recalled) and the valve covers went on to identify the ones serviced.

There was plenty of literature on the V6. GMCs weren't low production and the V6 was very common. No V8 was offered in the '60s till a rare few in late '67

Looks like it has a 69/70 hood, grille (68/69/70),and surround. I wager '70 since the interior door panels are '70. A true '67 but fixed up using parts from a '70 truck.

Re: Rare 67 GMC V6 Emblem

Info from the Jolly site about the Plaid valve covers being a promo item or "Thrifty as a Scotsman"

Quote:
OK reading thru all the stuff in the Plaid Folder, I find mention of the
"Scotch Plaid Rocker Covers" only once, This folder is talking about how to
use the "Demonstrator" trucks to generate sells, and the following is as GMC
printed it in 1963:

PERFORMANCE, ECONOMY AND SERVICE EASE

Next, open the hood to give your prospect a look at the new, 605E, V-6
engine. You know the V-6 story well, but be sure to point out the fine
records that this engine has established. Use a few local testimonial
stories here. Then--Point out the Scotch plaid rocker arm covers and explain
this is our way of saying that the 305E is even tighter with a buck then
ever. Sell the Delcotron diode-rectified alternating-current generator and
how it greatly extends battery life by keeping the charge high. Show how
easily you can reach the parts that require routine service.

So maybe they only put them on the "Demonstrator" trucks, which all would
have ended up being sold at some point. I guess it mite be time to dig thru
the service bulletins too see if I can find any info in them.
