New burb owner in town...
![]() So i have a 2 year old and another baby on the way...I made the decision to sell my 72 swb this week. This burb will be my every day family cruiser. Super super sad about my truck but I am really excited for my new project. I picked up this 71 gmc last night. I have had my sights on it for a long time. It needs a full interior, motor rebuild, top needs to be painted, I'm going to probably have the grill/bumpers powder coated, probably go with some 22's, needs some serious suspension improvements and a little love here and there. Anyway, I'm pumped but will have lots of questions in the coming months! First question...What is the best way you guys find sweet interiors out of new rigs? I want a grey interior from something like a Burb, Tahoe, Yukon or something like that. How do you guys find that stuff other than Craigslist?

Hey sweet lookin Burb! Looks pretty sweet with the steelies too! If I wanted to find a complete interior from a newer truck, I'd probably watch the auctions. You could probably find a miled out or smashed yukon for pretty cheap.

Re: New burb owner in town...
I saw your orange 72 on Craigslist. Nice truck!! If you want to stop by sometime @ my shop I can help you out finding an interior for the Suburban. I am working on my own 70 Suburban & will be installing a Denali or Escalade interior in it. I have switched out interiors a few times before & have an awesome source for it.
Congratulations on the new Suburban!! Bob Silver Creek Auto Body Silverton Oregon |

Re: New burb owner in town...
Cool burb.
I saw your suspension thread. You have alot of issues going on back there. If you want to keep that ride height,... you will need to spend some money. Call ECE (www.earlyclassic.com) They know these trucks. Buy a set of 6" drop springs, a set of rear shock relocators, a Super Track bar, and a set of their drop shocks. The shock relocators will stand up the rear shocks so they will actually work. The super track bar will re-center the rearend. Right now the rearend of your truck is off center in the frame. You have no suspension travel also. I would add a bolt in c-notch. http://www.performanceonline.com/196...H-KIT-BOLT-IN/ Then add a 1.5" lowering block. (no more than 1.5" unless you switch to bigger diameter wheels and add air bags) http://www.stockcarproducts.com/trkarm1.htm Fix the rearend and it will ride good. But you can't ***** about the ride if you don't fix it correctly. Good luck. My truck is at 5.5/7.5 static drop. So the rear of your burb will be this low on 15" wheels. Any lower will require a step notch in the rear frame rails.

Re: New burb owner in town...
See how much more travel I have?
And the shocks are more vertical. The axle tube is in approimately the same place as on your burb.

Re: New burb owner in town...
I found an interior for my 72 on Ebay (Schram Auto Parts). I'm using all three rows of seats from a 2012 Buick Enclave. The size of the seats are perfect and extremely comfortable. The bases need to come off the second row and build your own base to strattle the step up to the rear deck. I'm about half done getting them mounted but I'll try and get some pix up over the weekend. BTW these are heated and air conditioned seats.

Re: New burb owner in town...
Like I said...this is a work in progress but the pictures should give you and idea of what these seats will look like installed. The console is a 2010 Silverado.

Re: New burb owner in town...
Thanks POS1. I am making progress on finishing them up. I had to go to the local Buick dealer and get a set of schematics for the wiring. Lots of detail work but the comfort will be amazing.
