Bleeder valves
I need to bleed the disc brakes on my '72. Bleeder valves are stuck...any ideas on how to break them loose. 6 pt socket started rounding them off. Should I just get them off and replace the valves? Anyway to save them? Replaced front brakes and have no front brakes now...frustrating.

heat them up with a torch I also have good luck hitting them with a hammer to shock them than wrenching them out but you will need to replace the bleaders hope this helps you out

Soak with some good penetrating solvent over night, then heat the caliper around the valve with a hand torch. Spray again while hot being careful not to start a fire or breathe the fumes. A cycle or three of that should help immensely. Like Fuzzy said above rap it with a hammer. Also try to work the bleeder back and forth - tighten & loosen etc ...
If that doesn't do it your local shop may have repair kits. You (or they) basically drill out the stuck valve, re-tap new threads, then install a new over size insert which has a new needle seat built in.

calipers are pretty darn cheap and sometimes it is better to just get a new pair so you have all new brakes to start off with

I think cdowns hit your answer.If the bleeders are that bad then the calipers probably could stand to be replaced.

Thanks I'll try the suggestion and buy new if needed. I thought about heating, but wasn't sure if it would ruin any o rings I hadn't thought of.

There is always that chance. I have removed countless stuck bleeders that way. One has to be smart and not cook the whole caliper.

I used a brazing tip on my torch to concentrate the heat. I see Vautozone has rebuilt calipers for $12+ $10 core charge.
