front anxle
I have a front axle out of a 76 chevy 4x4. It looks like a dana 44 but it looks bigger and the axle is not centered like the 44 more off set and lower. I did see any marking on the axle I wonder if this is a Dana 66. Any suggestions.
Thanks |

If the axle is a dana 60, the easiest way to tell is to look at the u bolts. if there is only one u bolt on the diff, and 2 studs, then it is a 60. if there are 2 u bolts, it's a 44. hope this helps

To my knowledge GM did not manuf. a 1 ton in '76 unless somebody did a retro install on the truck you have. Yea check the bolts on the pass. side to make sure.

Could it be a swapped in high pinion dana60 out of a ford? Mor than likely a dana44 though.
