Re: 327 4 bolt main

I have a book that says it's a 62 or 63, but I wonder if someone machined it into a 4 bolt main and he doesn't know it.

Re: 327 4 bolt main

I have never seen or heard of a small journal 4 bolt block from GM. That description is a little confusing. First he talks about large journal over the counter 4 bolt blocks in '69. Then he goes on to say that he built a '66 327. So just what is it that he is selling?

Re: 327 4 bolt main

I have been hearing this debate since I started High School 1974. As far as anybody that I would trust their opinion is that there were no 4 bolt small journal blocks. As per Malcolm Durham, he raced out of Hyattesville MD , down the street from my brother's shop and Grumpy Jenkins, met at a car show. Plus several profession Machinists.........and I think, only my opinion, that all 4 bolt large journal blocks were 4 inch bores, generation 1 small blocks

Its been my understanding that there were no factory 4 bolts until the 350 was introduced.

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"
