72 rare find or not?
Hello,
I am new and haven't said anything on this site yet so please bare with me. I was surfing the net to find out how rare my 72 Chevy short bed step side truck was and came across this forum last year when I was buying my truck. Can anyone tell me how rare and what my truck is worth? It has a 350 c.i. engine /350 t.h. trans, 4x4, p.s., p.d. brakes, factory air, all original, golden oak bed, bucket seats w/console, tilt wheel, power windows. I bought it last year and have been wondering if I should invest in a complete restoration or just leave it alone and use it? |

Re: 72 rare find or not?
Don't really know how rare it is, but if you can prove by build sheet on the truck that it's an all original numbers matching truck, sounds like it might be worth a pretty penny. I would also recommend taking pictures of the truck and of the build sheet in the glove box and post them on here for us to take a look at...

Re: 72 rare find or not?
I agree. Have to see the options to know what it is worth and condition of the truck also. Pics do a world of justice

Re: 72 rare find or not?
Thanks for the quick reply. Is there any danger in sharing the vin code? I don't have a build sheet. The engine and trans are not original, just correct. The wood bed is original golden oak, I put in an extra comma. everything else seems 40 years old. How many of this model with these options did they make? I would just guess not many. Thanks

Re: 72 rare find or not?
It has nice factory options for a 115 wheel base truck although a number of factors go into what it will ultimately be worth.
1) Is it a Numbers matching engine, transmission and rear axle. 2) Is it a base model c/10 or a cst/10 or a Cheyenne? 3) The number of trucks built with the factory options it has. 4) Engine and tranmission combo, Big Block is always king, however a good 350/350 combo will never be looked down upon. 5) Does it have ALL Original GM Parts. The Combination of Tilt, Power Windows, Bucket Seats w/Console and 4x4 makes this truck pretty rare for sure. If its an all Numbers matching truck and has a high trim level I would restore it and make it a trailer queen, if its not numbers matching do a driver quality restoration and drive it. |

Re: 72 rare find or not?
I am not very savvy on computers and such, I figure after turning 60 I can just take my time and do it the best I can. I can't seem to figure out how to transfer Pics to my posts? I used to be the top troubleshooting ultra sound tech at Philips Medical. Who would have thought. any help would be appreciated. In the mean time I will try to reply when possible. Thanks.

Re: 72 rare find or not?
Over the years I have owned 30-40 67-72 trucks. I have never seen one with factory power windows. I dont think it was an available option on these trucks.
I could be wrong, Im sure the experts will be along shortly to correct me if im wrong.

Your pic shows a nice fleet side! How can I get the pic of my truck from my user file or computer to the thread?
