help please E-brake cable instructions needed!

I bought 1 front and 2 rear brake cables (one for each rear brake backing plate) as such:

Front cable:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320772915004...84.m1497.l2649

2 rear cables:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/380499878317...84.m1497.l2649

Question: How are these attached? My truck has NO E Brake cables!!! Oh it's a 1964 Fleetside shortbed Chevy.

Re: help please E-brake cable instructions needed!

Does the 1964 C10 transmission cross member have that type of lever system on it originally? The previous owner had a TH350 transmission swap done in place of the original granny 4-speed on the floor. I see 2 bolt holes on the crossmember where one of the brackets would have mounted...couldnt see the other side too well under the truck tonight.

It appears as if my 2 crossmember brackets and lever system circled above is missing in action because the swapped in TH350 tranny was to big to allow the Ebrake center lever system to still be there.

Anyone else have this problem...and what did you do to remedy it?

Re: help please E-brake cable instructions needed!

Looks like this was one solution: similar to a GM A body answer...run a cable from one rear cable to the other rear cable and pull it foward with a similar setup

That's the 66 setup shown there but I don't think those rear cables you have will work with that setup. It's probably what you will have to go too, that is what is on my suburban and I have a 700R4 with an ECE crossmember.

Here is a shot of a 66 gmc that shows the later model e brake system since your truck is not stock. Kieth

Re: help please E-brake cable instructions needed!

There is a very good write-up on this subject in the FAQ for the 60-66 section. I'm going thru the same thing right now, and this info was just what I had been looking for.

And also, thanks kieth for posting those pictures! I finally see how that long rod connects to the cable.

Re: help please E-brake cable instructions needed!

Those cables for a 66 are all over many different vendor sites. And they are not expensive, around $30.00 or less.
