I wouldn't try it as you are just covering up a problem, it may work on the small spider web looking cracks in the top but wont fix the hatch. I think you would be spending alot of money on paint just to look up one day and see all of those cracks. The hatch needs to be rebuilt, it can be done.

Re: rhino line the roof to fix cracks?
Back in the day, I had the bottom of my 2dr Yukon LineX coated from the body line down, including the fender flares. The shop then painted it to match the two tone that was there originally. I think it looks awesome, and it held up well.
(Anything that's light brown is LineX)

Re: rhino line the roof to fix cracks?
how exactly can it be rebuilt? the hatch is cracked all the way through right under the handle i have to be careful putting it up because it flexes. its cracked from bottom all the way up to the window seals. people always told me im gonna have to look for a new one and i figured rhino liner is much more stronger than the fiberglass.. what type of fiberglass stuff will i need to rebuild it?

Re: rhino line the roof to fix cracks?
I just re-did my top, Evercoat makes a product that is comparable with the SMC...I have a few pics of the process on a post.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=538092 I also talked to the guys at the local Leer camper shell dealer, I'm thinking about updating my hatch to something similar to a modern day camper shell glass. Last edited by Truckman73; 11-02-2012 at 02:38 AM. |
