Identify a later model front suspension

I finally got the cab hung on the rotissary today and was able to inspect the chassis a little closer. I ended up with two questions today.

Question for this thread is: Is there an easy way (or any way) to identify a later model front suspension (I have a suspicion that when the truck was changed to 5 lug that a newer cross member and front suspension was used.)
Before I start ordering parts for the front suspension--I guess I oughta know what I have !!

Im sure there are some guys who have made this swap-----help please!

Re: Identify a later model front suspension

I can tell you for sure that it is not a 1973 or later. As it would have the larger rubber bushings in the control arms. Maybe it is 1971/72.

Re: Identify a later model front suspension

OK, I like that answer------the p o told me it was a 72 but Ive found so many things that were inaccurate in what I was told. I have looked it over before and believed it to be a 71-72, but today, something just didnt look right (looking for something To Be Wrong I guess) thanks for your observation---

Re: Identify a later model front suspension

the crossmember is 67-70 with the the rearmounted drum brake lines.
the 71-72 crossmember had front mounted brake lines for the disc's.

That is 100 percent correct. You have a 63-70 main crossmember with 71-72 arms. Sounds like the previous guy who did the work just swapped the arms for ease rather than swapping the whole crossmember. It doesn't matter what crossemember you have other than like midnite pointed out, you have earlier model hard brake lines still in place.

Re: Identify a later model front suspension

Well good deal, thanks for the input guys (I knew someone would certainly know).
I initially thought it was 71-72 a arms and spindles (because I was told that) but, like I said lately I was suspicious. Now--off to ECE for some more early christmas presents!!!

All I have to do now is figure out the transmission crossmember issue.
