65 cop motor?

just towed out & home a 65 c-10. guy had 283 rebuilt blew up 1day went to Motorsport Speed Shop /Chicago area racemotor builders to build good motor? says it is 65-350ci. H.P. police car motor . all receipts for both rebuilds. He has all original sales & service books & brochures right down to showroom carpet & upholstery sample books. i find 283 & 327for c10 & 348 & 409 options in bigger trucks. this is truck literature & doesn't list cars. engine is listed as high performance or high torque needs options. did the cops cars from this year in fact have 350 hp motor as i am told? as a kid my dad had friends dragging sponsored cars but I was never taken to one race. some where cops from this town remeber them braggin no one could beat local race cars. guy says he got rubber in 3 gears the day he parked it. leads to documeting any of this appriciated. same for links for any pertinent upgrades know i need to go with auto overdrive trans for old lady& highway & new seats will newer truck seats fit? i'll have pics in couple of days. gotta get motor running today. thanks jwart
