front end ID PLEASE
I have a 71 4 WD blazer that I am selling for parts and was checking out the front end today. It has 44-5F stamped on the bottom web of the pumpkin ( drivers side) and another # on the top web. It is C-31256. Can someone tell me what front end I have and maybe a ballpark value. It is still in the blazer so it would be complete w/dics brakes, springs etc. Thank u in advance.

Re: front end ID PLEASE
Were the Dana 44 the stock/ original front ends used in Blazers or were they a HD option? I have been told they were the HD option after 1977. Just trying to confirm. Also, how much are they worth?

Re: front end ID PLEASE
The 6 lug D44 was stock on the blazer and 8 lugs were optional on the 3/4 ton trucks. Somewhere in the early 80's they changed over to the corporate 10 bolt which MAY have been weaker for less splines on the axles, but I cant remember exactly what the comments were.
I have my 72 front axle w/ 3.73 gears for sale on CL. It has all new tie rod ends, ok brakes, Zero Rust and was being used till a few weeks ago. I listed it for $250 and received one email... I think it depends on the location. Post pictures for more feedback.... |
