72 4x4 SWB - Possible trade
Hi all. I need some help from the forum!
I am considering a vehicle trade for a pair of 1972 4x4 short beds and am struggling trying to determine a fair value for the trucks. The red truck has a 350 with a 3-speed column shift, tach dash and a very clean interior. The body is pretty darn solid with a little bubble rust here and there, but nothing major. There are a couple spots where some work has been done on the bed sides, but they are not bad. The paint is fair, needs some clear coat repair in a few spots, but is decent. Cab supports are sold, floors are solid. Frame looks good, but a few spots have rusted through... about the size of a quarter on each side near the rear wheels. Runs and drives nicely. Power steering, power brakes. The other truck is a 72 with a 68 front end. 350 / automatic. The body, frame, supports, etc are very solid all around. Paint is terrible. Interior is rough, but floors are solid. The 350 cranks, but is not firing. (we really did not make any real effort to get it started) Truck has been sitting for years and is in need of serious cleaning. My intent would be to keep the 2 tone with the 68 front clip. We would detail the engine compartment on the red one and sell it. I am most interested in determining a value for the red one. Any help is & would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all! Damn!!! That shop is full of beauties!! That red one appears to be a sweet ass truck, Id say its worth 8-10 grand, but its impossible to assess a value without looking at it up close.

There are about a dozen 67-72 Trucks there and most are being prepped to be sold. There are some very nice trucks in there & as soon as they are ready, I will post photos and info.

I'd say the red swb is worth closer to $10k. SWB K10s are very desirable trucks... Especially if it's a Cheyenne (only ask because the door panels are not woodgrain).

Thank you for the input.
I need to clarify that at this time, none of the trucks pictured are mine... I wish they were & hope that we can work a trade for 2!

Re: 72 4x4 SWB - Possible trade
By your description and what I see in the photos,I'd say the red one is in the $6-7k range. I'm thinking it's a base model 3spd non-a/c that's been fixed over and coming back through. Or,an original Cheyenne that's missing so pieces and a standard windshield gasket was used.

Re: 72 4x4 SWB - Possible trade
I am thinking it's worth about $7500. I also think it was a base model that has been worked over given some upgrades. Either way, I still think its worth about $7500.
It looks like you got some time and money invested in your current, but I could see the reason you would be wanting to go back to 4x4. Sentimental reasons. Dude, I say whatever makes you happy in the end. I am partial to a 4x4 myself, and would be jumping on the deal myself....lol 2 for 1 deal just sweetens the pot even more. Ultimately, do what you are going to be happy with.
