Interesting crew Cab and more - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I met up with an interesting fellow that I met during this years cruise weekend. I drove about an hour and a half to look at some parts he has and while there drooled over his shortbox that has been posted here from past cruise weekends and some of his other stuff. Amongst his treasures is a very nice 67 converted to 4X4, a very nice shortbox he drives every day that he cut the frame and the box and an original 3 door crew cab he saved from the crusher that he is grafting the cab to a mid 90's 4x4 diesel crew cab floor pan and firewall and then using the 90's dash and all of the frame and running gear. By the looks of his other stuff it should be really neat when done. Glen is a bodyman by trade and also farms on top of it for a living. He has a few other neat projects kicking around as well including what will be a killer 55 truck he is building for another guy.

I tried to convince him of the value of participating on the board and I sincerely hope we get the chance to welcome him here.

That crew cad should be on good looking truck when finished. My uncle is in the middle of building a 37 crew cab chevy out of two cabs he bought at a swap meet in Texas. He's also working on a 31 chevy hot rod, maybe one of these days I can convience him to help replace my rockers and floor supports.

It will be interesting to see how they are going to put a seat in there with the dash sticking out so much.

Hmmm, F-150 rear sway bar is a direct bolt on...did you happen to ask what year the donor was?

Was that crew cab factory?I've always thought about how cool it would be to have a 69-72 crew cab.If it was factory what years did they make them?Any info on this would be nice.

chevy never made a crew cab from the factory there were a few companies doing conversions to crew cabs back in the day, some of them looked better then the others.
I think its gonna be cool to have a 6.5 litre diesel crew cab though!!

Actually the front to rear position was not firmly established and he was in the process of getting a front clip mocked up for a test fit so he could finalize cab position in relation to front wheel placement. He is a pretty talented guy from what I can see and I've seen plenty enough to know talent when I see it, he'll figure it out and make a neat truck out of it. He told me what year that bar was but it escapes me right now. I'll ask him when I speak to him again.

Yah where the edge of the steering wheel is is at about the point where the middle of the seat would be. Maybe he is going to weld up the front doors and use the rear doors to get in and out. :p

The floorpan came with the firewall and dash so the seat will be in the correct position relative to the steering wheel. There may not be much legroom in the back seat though.

If you look careful at the front wheel to door placement it looks a little tight for 67-72 fenders.........as I said he is mocking up a front end to establish final positioning. If it has to move it back which he likely will that would push the dash and steering wheel forward in relation to the door openings. This thing isn't nailed down yet(literally). He will make a nice truck out of it. You would believe it if you saw the quality of his other work.
