Quick ratio steering box ???

Any one know of a 3 1/2 turns approx lock to lock, power steering gear box for a 4wd that uses the old style flare fittings? I have heard here that there are 2 models offered in 73-77 4wd trucks, 1 is a 3 1/2 trun & the other is 4 1/2 turn. I have the 4 1/2 turn already (stamped 7802644), would like more info on what truck to pull one from oe even a casting number. I recently picked up one from a 85 4wd (marked 7802644L) that is 3 1/2 turns, but it has different fittings on it than the one I have installed. Doesn't look like I can use the later model pressure hose since my pump mounts down low next to the balancer & the hose routes up the side of the pump, the later pump is mounted up high and the hose routes under the pump to the gear box.

Any ideas?? Thinking about swapping the guts of the 85 box into my 75 or so box to retain the flair fittings.

I believe there are adaptors to switch back and forth. Check with your auto parts store. Or,, have hoses made that have the correct ends.

Re: Quick ratio steering box ???

76 and newer steering gears are 3 1/2 turns lock to lock. However they have a smaller input shaft, so you can't use the stock rag joint on your truck. You should be able to use the rag joint on the junk yard steering gear if it isn't destroyed. We have made and sell remanufactured quick ratio steering gears that have the larger input shaft that our trucks use. You can find them in our website: http://www.classicheartbeat.com/67-72_chassis_2.htm WES
