Any Creative Ideas for jack storage

All I have left of the original Jack Assembly are the brackets that are mounted on the floor. I used to keep a bottle jack and a crosstee tire iron sliding around under the bench seat. Anybody got a better idea than that.

Re: Any Creative Ideas for jack storage

i used to always carry a jack, spare lugnuts, lug wrench, all that jazz. then i started thinkin, in almost 30 years of driving i have never been stranded with a flat tire. even then if i did i have towin on my insurance for 1 dollar per month. nowadays i dont even carry a spare. had a flat tire bout 7 months ago, the entire side wall was gone, i pulled over, called towing company towed truck to my house, all for free. and they gave me a hot cup of joe while they loaded up my truck.

I just call my buddy to bring his....this is a good storage place!

My truck is lowered and doesnt have room for the spare either, besides, on mine the spare would take away from the appearance and look im after.

Re: Any Creative Ideas for jack storage

I still use the fctory mounting location and factory jack. If at the house I use the good ol orange jack stands, but the factory jack is still great for those on the side of the road moments.

Re: Any Creative Ideas for jack storage

The jack and handle didn't come with my truck so I had no idea what those brackets under my seat were for. After repainting my interior I didn't want the jack sliding around anymore. I started restoring my truck this summer (1963 long stepper)and this group has been a very valuble resource.
Thanks to all

Re: Any Creative Ideas for jack storage

So you just need the jack spring?

Re: Any Creative Ideas for jack storage

I bought a small jack and a spring and used a key ring to hook onto the bigger clip. The jack fits good into the oringinal bracket and after shortening the spring it seems secure. I am going to mount a 3/4" tire iron under the other springs. I don't think ralph nader would approve of this setup though. I might move this around a little bit later to add a secret audio.
Cheers

Re: Any Creative Ideas for jack storage

There is plenty of room under the floorboard by the frame rail. People mount air tanks under their truck in that area. If you wanted to be creative you could come up with a way to mount a bottle jack in that location...
