I've had the adapters and they work ok. I never noticed a crack, but it did develop a small vacuum leak on the manifold side after awhile. I got a deal on an intake and never looked back. One thing I can highly recommend is a heat insulator gasket with an Edelbrock carb. You'll be happy you did in the summer months.
BTW, the Edelbrock intake you would want would be pn 2161. I got mine off ebay for $50... It's for the peanut ports that I assume you have. Quote:
