Buying Assistance

Looking for help in determining price. Going to look at a 71 C10 Suburban with a factory 402 bb with auto trans. Came with factory a/c and I'm being told that the headliner and all a/c ducting in headliner is in tact. Body is solid, few dents and small holes in rockers. Truck runs and drives. Paint is patinad. Interior is a little rough. Seat is torn. Wood in back is solid. All glass in tact. They are asking 3 grand for truck. Seem like a good price. Looks like a good starter project. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Buying Assistance

I bought a 70 GMC with 402, A/C, PS, PB, etc. that was a two owner a few years back that ran, drove and everything worked. I paid about $4000 for it if I remember right so I would say $3k sounds like a decent price...

Heres mine the day I got her home for comparrison:

Re: Buying Assistance

I picked up a 69 burb with a 350/350 no air and it needed some body work for $2200. $3k seems like a good deal as long as the body is in good shape. Check the barn doors/hatch carefully as they are VERY hard to find.

Re: Buying Assistance

with out seeing pictures, and based on your description alone.
3k is a standard price IMO for a good running 2x4 starter burb, that is complete, running and able to drive.

Re: Buying Assistance

thanks for all the info. went and looked at the suburban. not what i was expecting. running, yes it starts and runs, but i would not say running. needs a rear tailgate. lower part. something fell on it and bent it in the middle. top glass will not latch. i looked quickly so far and seem to have trouble finding one. are these available does anyone know.

Re: Buying Assistance

The rear hatch or doors are scarce, but they do show up from time to time on the classifieds here.

If I were you, I would look for a burb with solid doors.

Re: Buying Assistance

a couple of more questions. this unit has the roof a/c system from front to back. not sure if it works, but most of the hoses underneath are newer, making me think if it does not work, should not be that big to repair. truck sat for the last three years. the question is can i remove this a/c system and just install a 72 rear air instead. all the controls for the a/c is in this headliner unit. not really keen on the looks of this a/c system. also, are there patch panels available for the rear fenders and quarters, or can you just use a pickup bed panel and make panels from that. again, thanks everyone for your help.
